The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will be offering a one-day Paddle Sports America course at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14.
This course will address safety issues and other information related to paddle sports such as canoeing and kayaking, and is designed to attract the novice paddle enthusiast.
Topics include understanding the paddlecraft characteristics, capacity, safety, rules of the road, legal requirements and emergencies.
The course fee is $25, which includes class materials.

How to Read a Nautical Chart Course
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will additionally be offering a “How to Read a Nautical Chart for Power Boaters” course at the Del Rey Yacht Club in Marina del Rey from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, June 21 and 28.
This comprehensive course is designed for both experienced and novice powerboat operators.
The course will provide power boaters with the knowledge tointerpret the contents of a nautical chart to navigate safely to their destination.
A $50 fee for book and materials is due the first day of class. Text and training chart included.
