Astral Dick, a play by James Mathers, will be presented at the Electric Lodge theater in Venice beginning Thursday, May 24 through June 10.

Performances are scheduled at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Ave., Venice.

Astral Dick is a “whodunit” murder mystery involving a police psychic, captain, and his “paranormal guinea pig,” Lt. Leo Fleck.

Together they are investigating a string of brutal killings centered around the temple of a rogue religious cult and an open-mic poetry caf/ run by Bunny and her daughter, Marlo Montecarlo. When the captain falls victim to the killer(s), Leo is left to investigate alone, and finds himself entangled in a web of spiritual and erotic deception at the hands of Marlo, as her scheming mother Bunny pulls the strings.

The cast features Marc Hickox, Kaytlin Borgen and Paul Tei. The show is directed by Hanna Hall.
