Jazz on the Lawn, featuring free summer concerts on Sundays in August, will launch its seventh year in Santa Monica at a new location – Stewart Street Park, 1836 Stewart St.

Presented by the Cultural Affairs Department, the series was formerly held on the lawn outside of Santa Monica City Hall.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, blanket and beach chair to enjoy the shows. Each week will feature a different style of jazz.

The program will kick off from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 5 with Dustbowl Revival, a Venice-based roots and jazz collective playing New Orleans swing, gypsy jazz, Appalachian folk and jug-band blues.

On Aug. 12 the Zane Musa Quartet will play a saxophone-led blend of traditional jazz with contemporary music. The series continues Aug. 19 with The Ronnie Gutierrez Band featuring Leslie Paula, performing old school salsa, cha cha and Latin Jazz, including a free salsa lesson at 4:30 p.m.

The event concludes Aug. 26, when Rogelio Mitchell & Friends will play Calypso, reggae, soca and jazz.

Frozen treats from Beachy Cream will be offering organic ice cream and sweet treats on Aug. 5 and 12. Complimentary drinks will b e provided by IZZE Beverage Company and Just Chill Inc.

City officials noted that in addition to more space, Stewart Street Park has amenities including a children’s playground, restrooms and nearby parking.
