Jeff Fitch has been appointed to the permanent position of deputy executive director of operations and maintenance for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a position he has held on an interim basis since early January.

Los Angeles World Airports is the city agency that operates Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and three other Southern California airports.

As head of operations and maintenance, Fitch is responsible for public safety and security, airside, terminal and landside operations, and the Construction and Maintenance Division at all four LAWA airports.

“Jeff Fitch was chosen following a competitive selection from a pool of other highly-qualified individuals,” said Los Angeles World Airports executive director Gina Marie Lindsey.

Fitch has a background in the aviation and airport industries. He holds a Master of Aeronautical Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and while in the U.S. Air Force, he served as deputy commander for Operations at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota.

Following his military career, Fitch joined Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in 1989 as general manager of Aeronautical and Terminal Operations, and served as its business manager for the Airfield Line of Business, manager of the Construction Impact Center, and director of Public Safety and Security.
