Jens O. Rivera has been named airport manager of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), effective immediately.

Rivera had served as airport manager of Ontario International Airport since 2000.

Previously, Rivera was airport manager of Van Nuys Airport in 1999.

He holds Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees from California State University, Long Beach.

Rivera will be directly responsible for daily operations of LAX, including airfield terminal and emergency coordination operation.

He will also coordinate with divisions including construction and maintenance, ground transportation and parking, airport security, and airfield permits, concession and property and tenant relations.

Rivera will interface with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on airfield safety and air traffic control matters, as well as with the federal Transportation Security Administration on security-related projects including installation of passenger security screening checkpoints and an in-line baggage screening system.
