The Judy Wexler quartet will take the stage at the First Friday jazz series at Joe’s Restaurant on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, beginning at 7 p.m. June 1.

Jazz singer Wexler will perform with Jeff Colella on keys, Kendall Kay on drums and Chris Colangelo on bass.

Her 2005 debut, “Easy on the Heart,” made radio waves and introduced her to a wide jazz audience. “Dreams & Shadows,” her 2008 follow-up, debuted at No. 2.

In her newest musical offering on the Jazzed Media label, “Under a Painted Sky,” Wexler combines her expressive storytelling and out-of-the-box song selections with the harmonic arrangements of pianist Alan Pasqua.

A Los Angeles native, Wexler has sung at jazz festivals around the world. She has headlined at such noted clubs as the Blue Note, Kitano and Feinstein’s in New York, Jazz Alley in Seattle, Blues Alley in Washington, D.C., Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles, the Cellar in Vancouver, and Nardis Jazz Club in Istanbul.

The artists will play three or four sets. There is no cover charge for the music, but dinner orders are required for table seating. A complimentary glass of wine will be provided with 6-7 p.m. dinner reservations.

Reservations are strongly recommended as patio seating is limited.

Joe’s Restaurant is at 1023 Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice.
