Julian Myers — an 87-year-old Marina del Rey resident and longtime Hollywood publicist —is ready to run in the new Las Vegas Marathon Sunday, December 4th. “Runners from all over the world will be racing in Las Vegas,” he says.

The Las Vegas Marathon will be Myers’ 21st marathon, 12 of which were the Los Angeles Marathon.

He said he has prepared for the Las Vegas Marathon by running along the Marina breakwater jetty at dawn every morning.

“I can’t wait to compete in it,” Myers said of the Las Vegas event.

Myers’ latest venture was the creation of AmigoDay.

He says he and his wife organized AmigoDay to counteract negative generalizations about people, cultures, nations, faiths and groups.

Myers said he hopes that eventually AmigoDay will be as meaningful in the world as Mother’s Day.

AmigoDay is not a charity and does not accept contributions.

Myers taught public relations at UCLA for 30 years and Loyola Marymount University for 15 years.

Myers has been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 54 years and is a longtime member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

“AmigoDay is delighted that the new Las Vegas Marathon will be run on December 4th, which is the anniversary of the international celebration of AmigoDay,” Myers says.
