Westchester Lutheran Middle School’s Junior Thespian Society presented Seussical Jr. February 19th through 21st at Covenant Presbyterian Church to sold-out audiences.

Director Mark Tennyson, musical director Tom Gerhold and

choreographer/principal Elaine Lillie-Liberto showcased their sixth- through eighth-grade students in this production, which is part of an annual musical tradition, coupled with an annual play that will be held in April.

These productions are done entirely by the school students themselves, from stage management to lights and from set changes to sound. The backdrop design for Seussical Jr. was drawn by sixth-grader Alyssa Sapien and was painted by middle school crew on Saturdays.

Lead roles included eighth-graders Taylor Abraham as the Cat in the Hat, Courtney Maeder as Jojo, Eric Downie as Horton the Elephant, Ali Lee as Gertrude, Sarah Parrott as Mayzie, Cameron Laine and Amy Chase as Mr. and Mrs. Mayor, and Ian Green, Nick Chavez and Jeff Elliott as the Wickersham brothers.

Samantha Macedo, playing the Sour Kangaroo, was the only seventh-grade lead.

Other roles included Erin Kollar, Abigail Landers, Torrie Hankins and Stacey Johnstone as the Bird Girls; Tayler Gordon, Olivia Cummings, Katie Kaufman, Sarah Greta and Kamran Khan as the Jungle Creaters; and Flavia Nwankwo, Marlee Crawford, Kelly Baker, Brianna Cole, Drew Deason and Kaiya Crawford as the Who Chorus.

Connor Lillie-Liberto was the stage manager, Chyna Perkins was light board and sound operator, and Alex Chassiakos and Kevin Chase were the followspot operators. The backstage crew included Anton Einarson and Nick Knoll.
