Santa Monica resident and healthcare professional Kathleen Hunt has returned to Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center as chief nursing officer.

Most recently, she was interim director of the Emergency Department and the Transportation Department at the UCLA Westwood medical center facility.

“Kathleen brings a wealth of experience and considerable talents to this crucial position and we are excited to have her back at Santa Monica-UCLA on a full-time basis,” said Posie Carpenter, chief administrative officer at the center.

Hunt’s history with the hospital dates to 1977, when she started as a staff nurse in cardiac rehabilitation at UCLA Healthcare in Westwood.

She was promoted through management ranks and was director of Cardio-Pulmonary and Imaging Services when UCLA Healthcare acquired Santa Monica Hospital in 1995.

After the merger, Hunt was a director for departments at both Westwood and Santa Monica medical centers.

As director of Interventional Services, she oversaw Surgical Services and the Catheterization Labs at both facilities.

Hunt has a bachelor’s degree in healthcare from Redlands University and a master’s degree in business administration from La Verne University.
