The Kentwood Players theater group will present a production of “A Little Night Music,” with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and based on the book by Hugh Wheeler, beginning Friday, November 6th through Saturday, December 12th at the Westchester Playhouse.

Performances are scheduled at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays at the playhouse, 8301 Hindry Ave. in Westchester.

“A Little Night Music” was inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film “Smiles of a Summer Night” and has won the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award and the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Set in Sweden at the turn of the century, the musical involves the romantic lives of several couples, with the music set almost entirely in waltz time. The musical includes the song “Send in the Clowns.”

The production is directed by Sheridan Cole Crawford and produced by Jordan Bland for Kentwood Players.
