Council District 11 residents earned a hard-fought victory Friday, March 16 when the Los Angles City Council voted to bring a portion east Westchester back to the district after it had been moved during the redistricting process to a neighboring council area.

“I’m absolutely overjoyed,” Councilman Bill Rosendahl, who represents Westchester, told The Argonaut after the vote. “ The people of my district have spoken loud and clear about what they wanted.

“I’m thrilled to have my ‘triangle’ residents back.”

The Los Angeles Redistricting Committee removed the area known to its residents as “the triangle” from Rosendahl’s council district earlier this month to balance population needs.

The councilman vowed to do all he could to bring the triangle back to Council District 11 and to lobby his colleagues on the importance of restoring the entire district back to what its was prior to redistricting, which takes place every 10 years.

The Argonaut will have complete coverage of the redistricting vote in the March 22 edition.
