No one was injured when a fire broke out at a first-floor apartment at the Mariners Village complex in Marina del Rey late Thursday, January 17th, county fire officials said.
Approximately 40 firefighters from county Fire Station 110 in the Marina and other local stations were called at about 11:40 p.m. to 13930 Northwest Passage, where a fire was reported in the three-story apartment complex, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said. Los Angeles city firefighters were also called for assistance.
Residents in the immediate area of the fire were evacuated as smoke was coming from all three floors, the fire department spokesman said.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from the interior of the building and were able to contain it to a unit on the first floor, the spokesman said.
The firefighters had extinguished the fire by about 12:10 a.m.
The cause of the fire and estimated damage were under investigation.
