Students in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) may qualify to receive free tutoring from a professional tutoring service to improve academic performance for the 2006-2007 school year.

Under the terms of the No Child Left Behind Act, approximately 270,000 students in the district may be eligible to receive free tutoring in math or reading from Supplemental Educational Services, which are tutoring service providers approved by the State of California.

These same tutoring services, if paid out of pocket, would cost approximately $1,500.

The deadline for families to enroll their children is 5 p.m. Friday, June 30th.
