Marina del Rey resident Linda Garrison has been recognized for her work as past chair of the board of directors by the Children’s Bureau, a nonprofit organization that provides prevention and treatment for child abuse and neglect.

The organization has assisted more than 12,000 children and families each year throughout Southern California.

Garrison joined the board of directors several years ago and has served as board chair for the past three years.

During her term, the organization said it has “experienced success both financially and programmatically in all areas of child abuse prevention and treatment.”

Garrison will now serve as chairwoman of the organization’s board of trustees.
