Friends of Ballona Wetlands has been awarded a $5,000 grant from LSA Associates, Inc. that members say will help the environmental organization continue its stewardship and protection of the environmentally sensitive Ballona Wetlands area.

“LSA has really come through for the organization this year. We’re honored to have their support,” Friends of the Ballona Wetlands Executive Director Lisa Fimiani said.

Friends of Ballona Wetlands was formed in 1978 and has a dual mission of educating the public and representing the community during the upcoming state-sponsored restoration of the entire reserve.

“LSA is proud to be counted as a sponsor of the Friends of Ballona Wetlands,” said Frank Haselton, managing principal of LSA’s Irvine office. “LSA supports the cause of protecting and restoring the Ballona Wetlands, and other critical habitats throughout the western United States, and organizations like Friends, which engage the public in preserving our natural resources and educating our youth, play an essential role.”

LSA was previously a sponsor of both the first annual Ballona Watershed Warrior Celebration and the fifth annual Moonlight on the Marsh events.
