Anne Stevens, a longtime resident of Mar Vista, passed away Feb. 20. She was 86.

Born in New York on May 13, 1925, she was one of seven children born to Nicola and Rosina Numis.

While still very young, Stevens met her soul mate and future husband Dennis Stevens. They were married in 1945 and explored the world together before returning to America.

Much later, they brought a child, Denise, into the world. The family eventually moved to California and bought a home in Mar Vista in 1959, where Anne lived happily for over 50 years.

Stevens was a caring, hardworking woman who devoted her time and high energy both to love and life, her family said. She was devoted to family and friends and those who needed help.

Stevens had many lifelong friends across all generations and everyone called her “Auntie Anne.”

She is survived by her daughter, Denise, of Goleta, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Saturday, March 31, at Shanghai Red’s, 13813 Fiji Way in Marina del Rey, and afterwards at her home.

Stevens was a lifelong lover of animals and always had a rescued cat, dog or both. Special memorial donations in her name can be made by contacting Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah.
