Allen Roy Hefner

Allen Roy Hefner, a longtime resident of the Westchester and Playa del Rey area, passed away Oct. 12 at his family home in Westchester. He was 60.
Hefner attended Kentwood Elementary School, Orville Wright Middle School, Westchester High School, West Los Angeles College and San Diego State University.
He was self-employed by providing sound reinforcement for live audio needs and also worked as a part-time plumber.
Hefner, who lived in Playa del Rey for the past 15 years, loved music and was a fan of the Grateful Dead.
One of his hobbies was fishing. He went on his last deep sea fishing trip in late August before suffering a stroke on Sept. 11.
Friends say he was a devoted son to his mother before and after his father, Roy Hefner, passed away in October 2009. He was also a devoted brother to his sister, Sue, and was her best friend.
Hefner is survived by his mother, Neva, sister, uncle, aunts, cousins and many friends.
A remembrance ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Pacific Club recreation room, 8180 Manitoba St., Playa del Rey.
