More than $300,000 was raised by Los Angeles County firefighters of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1014 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in a “Fill-the-Boot” drive Thursday, June 24th, to Saturday, June 26th.
The firefighters raised more this year than last year. Last year, they raised approximately $250,000.
For the past 25 years, Local 1014 firefighters from more than 50 fire stations in Los Angeles County have been holding “Fill-the-Boot” drives to help families who deal with neuromuscular diseases.
“We are so thankful to the entire Los Angeles community for their support again this year and for making this campaign a success once again,” said Dave Gillotte, Local 1014 president.
Local 1014 will make the presentation of the funds to the Muscular Dystrophy Association during the annual Jerry Lewis Telethon Labor Day weekend, which will be broadcast on KCAL, Channel 9.
