A 25-year-old Playa del Rey man received minor injuries after he returned home late Friday, March 17th, and found burglars ransacking his house, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Community police said.

When the man entered his home in the 8400 block of Pershing Drive in Playa del Rey at about 11:10 p.m., he was confronted by two burglary suspects, LAPD Pacific Lt. Phil Fontanetta said.

The suspects allegedly ordered the resident to the floor and struck him on the head with an object, Fontanetta said.

The man told officers that he did not get a good look at the two suspects and there may have been another suspect involved.

The suspects, who had entered the residence by unknown means, allegedly took an undisclosed amount of personal property from the home and fled, Fontanetta said.

The victim did not require medical treatment for his injuries.

The Westchester area had experienced a series of approximately 15 residential burglaries between mid-December and February, but the March 17th incident is not related to those incidents, police said.

“This has absolutely nothing to do with the Westchester burglaries,” Fontanetta said.

Police are conducting an “aggressive follow-up” investigation of the incident, he said.
