A Westchester man was shot to death while he was inside his vehicle at the drive-through area of a Carl’s Jr. restaurant near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) early Sunday, March 19th, Los Angeles police said.

Kenneth Morgan, 32, was sitting in his vehicle at the fast-food restaurant at 5625 W. Century Blvd., Westchester, at about 1:20 a.m. when a man allegedly walked up to the vehicle and fired several shots, hitting Morgan, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Detective Mike DePasquale said.

The suspect, described as a black male approximately 20 years old and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, ran northbound on Bellanca Avenue and may have driven away in a waiting car, DePasquale said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police are investigating whether the shooting was gang-related, but Morgan was not known to have any gang affiliation, DePasquale said.

The incident was the second homicide in Westchester this year, police said. A 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death at her father’s Westchester home January 18th.
