A 28-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot by an unknown male suspect Sunday, January 8th, in the 11900 block of Jefferson Boulevard in the Del Rey area, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Community police said.

The man was sitting in his parked car at about 9:30 p.m. and may have been talking on his cell phone when another man approached him in a vehicle, LAPD Pacific Detective Dennis Bopp said.

After the two men left their vehicles, the suspect allegedly walked toward the victim, pointed a gun and fired numerous times, striking the victim “more than once,” Bopp said.

The victim then ran from the scene.

The suspect, who was wearing a hooded jacket, pursued the victim for a short time and then fled in his vehicle, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

Police are investigating the possible motive for the shooting and whether it was gang-related.
