A longtime Venice resident was shot to death Monday, December 18th, in the 2500 block of Lincoln Boulevard in Venice.

The body of Richard Winkelman, 48, was discovered in an alley at approximately 11:10 p.m. Winkelman had gunshot wounds to the upper torso, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) are looking for suspects responsible for the crime, where there appears to be no motive for the shooting.

“We are still in the early stages of the investigation,” said LAPD Officer April Harding.
