The Mar Vista Recreation Center has scheduled its 2008 Community Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 4th. The center is at 11430 Woodbine St. in Mar Vista.
The free event is presented by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, along with the Mar Vista Park Advisory Board and the Mar Vista Community Council.
This year’s festival theme is “Island Hopping in Mar Vista,” with the goal being for attendees to “fall into paradise.”
Entertainment will include performances by Tropical Punch, the Island Hoppin’ Steel Drum Band, and the Polynesian Paradise Dancers, with a special appearance by the Stilt Circus troupe from Venice. Fire eaters and drummers will also be in attendance.
Additional activities will include hula lessons and limbo contests; a Hawaiian shirt contest; Muumuu Mamma awards; Caribbean craft cabanas; inflatable attractions, including giant slides and jumpers; the Parachute Adventure; island and mainland food; and novelties for sale.
There will also be information booths with representatives from city departments, the Mar Vista Community Council, and the Mar Vista Park Advisory Board.
