Christine Baccus, a teacher at ICEF (Inner City Education Foundation) Vista Middle School in Mar Vista, has been selected Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Enterprising Educator of the Year for the greater Los Angeles area.
ICEF Public Schools, NFTE of Greater Los Angeles, and EmpowHer Institute recognized Baccus’ achievements, along with her students, during a ceremony at the school April 7. The Mar Vista educator was presented with the award at an event in New York City April 13.
“Since Ms. Baccus became a NFTE certified entrepreneurship teacher in 2006, she has delivered consistently exceptional entrepreneurship programs,” said Estelle Reyes, executive director of NFTE Greater LA.
“She creates innovative activities to engage her students in business concepts and invites local business professionals to visit her classroom and help bring the curriculum to life. With her expertise, she also mentors and shares best practices with our cadre of teachers to ensure a more robust experience for all our students.
“We are thrilled that Ms. Baccus has been selected as NFTE Greater LA’s Teacher of the Year and congratulate her on this well-deserved accolade.”
ICEF currently operates 15 public charter schools with the goal of preparing students to attend and compete academically at the top colleges and universities in the nation.
