Red Cross development director
Marcia Caldirola has been named the new director of development for the American Red Cross of Santa Monica. The appointment was announced by John Pacheco, the chapter’s executive director.
At the Santa Monica chapter, Caldirola will be responsible for individual and corporate fund-raising, marketing and coordination of fundraising activities for disaster services.
She will also be responsible for the chapter’s youth program and special fundraising opportunities, including acquiring donations for national and international disaster and recovery efforts such as Hurricane Katrina and the East Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004.
Caldirola comes to The American Red Cross of Santa Monica from the Art Institute of California in Los Angeles, a private design college where she was the assistant director of admissions and an international recruiter. Earlier, Caldirola was business development/sales manager for EMDS Consulting, a firm that specializes in international corporate recruiting.
She has a background in nonprofit fundraising and has developed marketing and planning strategies for reaching out to and obtaining donors from individuals, as well as identifying, cultivating and soliciting corporations, foundations and major donors for a wide variety of nonprofit organizations and charities, according to Pacheco.
Caldirola has worked with the American Red Cross Blood Drive Committee, National Council of African Women, World Affairs Council, March of Dimes, City of Hope Hospital and Washington Special Olym-pics.
