A 43-year-old man was found dead in Ballona Creek south of Fiji Way and Admiralty Way in the Marina area Thursday, November 24th, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said. The man’s identity was being withheld by officials, pending notification of the man’s family.

Sheriff’s Department Marina del Rey Station deputies received a call at about 1:15 p.m. from a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) unit that a naked man’s body had been spotted in the creek near 13483 Fiji Way, said Marina Sheriff’s Station Deputy Steve Wheeler.

The man was found in the water near the Lincoln Boulevard bridge that crosses Ballona Creek, Wheeler said.

Marina sheriff’s deputies responded and a diver was sent in to retrieve the body. There were no signs of foul play, he said.

A county coroner’s office spokesman said an autopsy was performed, but an announcement on the cause of death has been delayed, pending additional tests.
