The Rotary Club of Venice-Marina and the Marina del Rey Historical Society have scheduled a “Wines of the World” fundraising event and drawing from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, November 8th, at the Organic Panificio restaurant (formerly Edie’s Diner and Harbor House), 4211 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey.

The new Marina del Rey Historical Society and the Rotary Club of Venice-Marina, founded in 1942, are partnering to raise funds for community projects.

The wine tasting event will fund Rotary scholarships and grants, youth academic enrichment programs for Venice High School, senior citizen luncheons, elementary school funding projects and Marina del Rey Historical Society historical preservation programs.

Organic Panificio will provide a “wine pairing” at the event to showcase its specially prepared food with matching wines. Rotary Club president Don Culton will pour selected Wines of the World, providing “hints” on wine appreciation, according to the club.

The Marina del Rey Historical Society will exhibit pictures of the Marina area and boating events, including past Holiday Boat Parades. Past parade entrants are invited to attend the wine tasting. Greg Wenger, Historical Society president and chief executive officer, plans to be in attendance.

The event is open to the public. Sponsors are being sought for the event.

Information, Don Culton at (310) 745-4243 or Willie Hjorth at (310) 822-9344.
