A Marina del Rey man was found dead floating face down in the water of G Basin in Marina del Rey Saturday, November 19th, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Marina del Rey Station officials said.
The man — identified by the Los Angeles County coroner as Robert Scott Minsky, 57 — was found by boaters at about 2 p.m. in the water by the docks at 13535 Mindanao Way, in the Marina, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Tatar of the Marina Sheriff’s Station.
Minsky had apparently fallen off the boat on which he was living in G basin, Tatar said.
Sheriff’s deputies and County Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene and pulled Minsky from the water.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, Tatar said.
Sheriff’s officials said there is no foul play suspected and the death appears to have been accidental.
Minsky was by himself when he was found.
An autopsy was performed Sunday, November 20th, but the cause of death is pending further toxicology tests, a county coroner’s spokesman said.
Eric Hilmer, Pier 44 assistant dockmaster, said Minsky was a guest of Pier 44 in the G Basin. Minsky was apparently in the process of purchasing the boat on which he was staying, Hilmer said.
