Visitors and residents accustomed to attending an end of the year tradition in one of the county’s coastal enclaves may be disappointed to learn that the event will not take place this year.
The New Year’s Eve fireworks show in Marina del Rey has been cancelled, Cindy Williams, president of the Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade told The Argonaut.
“There are a lot of logistics involved and I won’t be here for the fireworks show,” explained Williams, who is also in charge of the New Year’s Eve event.
In 2011, the popular Fourth of July fireworks display was cancelled due to budget cuts but was reinstated this year.
Fireworks shows have become a staple in the Marina for decades during the Fourth of July, the Holiday Boat Parade and New Year’s Eve.
