The third Jennifer Diamond Celebrity Regatta will be hosted by the Del ReyYacht Club (DRYC) Sunday, July 17th.
The charity regatta is designed to raise funds for the Jennifer Diamond Foundation and cancer patients.
Donations will be solicited by participating skippers and crews. The teams raising the greatest amount of funds will be rewarded with prizes.
“The Jennifer Diamond Foundation is dedicated to helping people with the fight against rare forms of cancer, as well as all other cancers,” the foundation’s mission statement says.
The first boat to cross the finish line will be awarded The Jennifer Diamond Celebrity Regatta Perpetual Trophy.
Team informaiton will be engraved on the trophy and it will be displayed in the trophy case at Del Rey Yacht Club.
A mandatory skipper’s meeting is planned at 10 a.m. Sunday at DRYC when racing instructions and notices will be distributed.
Last minute contributions may be turned in to the committee at that time.
The first start is planned at 12:30 p.m.
A random leg course will be specified in the sailing instructions.
One race, with a distance of approximately ten miles, will be set for both PHRF (Performance Handicap Racing Fleet) racers and Cruisers.
A cocktail party and trophy presentation at DRYC are scheduled after the race.
