The Waterside Marina del Rey will celebrate the opening of the redeveloped retail center in the Marina with four days of entertainment and activities from Thursday through Sunday, November 17th to 20th.

Music in the center’s fountain courtyard is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. each of the four days.

Many of the individual stores in the center will host events and promotions with giveaways, samplings, drawings and refreshments during the four-day period.

Caruso Affiliated has transformed the 140,000-square-foot retail center — formerly called Marina Waterside — in an $11 million renovation.

The Caruso firm design includes a beach village with colorful fabric awnings and individualized storefronts and signage, giving each shop and restaurant its own identity.

The project also included creating larger sidewalks, plazas and open space, designed to improve pedestrian flow.

The center has added approximately 10,000 square feet of new retail and restaurant space and an outdoor dining and patio area.

In the heart of the center is a 3,500-square-foot cobblestone and tile courtyard, designed to serve as both a visual and physical focal point.

The California Pizza Kitchen is scheduled to reopen next month.

There will be a low-scale fountain featuring a 20th Century bronze sculpture surrounded by a maritime-inspired compass rose.

The center will have what developers call “a more formal” entrance from Admiralty Way and new entry from Lincoln Boulevard.”

Caruso Affiliated acquired the center last year. Company officials say the center is now 100 percent leased.
