The bus trip is complimentary, sponsored by The Coalition to Save the Marina. Participants are asked to arrive by 7:10 a.m. for a 7:30-sharp departure from the Pier 52 parking lot, where there is free parking, on Fiji Way. Departure from San Diego is expected by mid-afternoon.

The community groups include The Coalition to Save the Marina, We ARE Marina del Rey, C.L.E.A.N. (Coastal Law Enforcement Action Network), Wetland Action Network, L.A. Mariner and others.

No Marina del Rey issues are on the agenda, but organizers of the bus trip say they will utilize the public comment period either before or after the lunch break to again present their most pressing issues to coastal commission staff.

Speakers will have approximately two to three minutes to address the coastal commission, or they can contribute their time to other speakers.

Organizers say their issues include “the Marina del Rey Local Coastal Program (LCP) review and the delays engineered by county officials; the lack of ESHA (environmentally sensitive habitat areas) in the LCP and other loopholes; the disregard for our existing laws by county officials in their pursuit of money at the expense of open space and public recreation; the piece-meal approach to development by county officials; and the lack of opportunities for meaningful public participation.”
