Entries for the 43rd annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade planned for Saturday, December 10th, are running ahead of last year’s entry pace.

“We’re getting boat entries from everywhere this year and we are way ahead of last year with the number of entries received,” said Cindy Williams, boat parade president.

“We have new boaters from all over the Marina entering, the yacht clubs have more boats entered, and we even have a boater motoring up to the Marina from King Harbor to compete for the ‘Best Overall’ award,” Williams said.

“Boaters are planning spectacular displays with this year’s theme and they tell me they are going all out with special effects, set decorators and designers, and everything else they can think of to win,” she said.

The boat parade Champagne Awards Ceremony has been moved to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, December 11th, parade organizers said. For many previous years, the ceremony was held in the morning the day after the parade.

This year, the award ceremony will be at Marina City Club, 4333 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey.

“We’re honored and very excited to be sponsoring the boat parade and hosting the awards ceremony this year,” said Patricia Moore, vice president of the Marina City Club board of directors.

“The parade is the Marina’s favorite event and we really want to extend our hospitality to all participants as well as showcase our beautiful new facility to the community.”

The Holiday Boat Parade will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 10th, in the Marina del Rey main channel, with fireworks commencing at 5:55 p.m.

“Star Light, Star Bright” is the parade theme.

The entry fee for personal boats to enter the parade is $25.

Boat parade entry forms are available on the boat parade Web site, www.mdrboatparade.org; at the Marina del Rey Visitors Center. 4701 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey; and at Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey.
