It was a record season for the free summer Beach Shuttle, which serviced the Marina del Rey concert series from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Los Angeles County officials said.

The shuttle operated Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and every other Thursday night, and had its highest ridership to date, with approximately 7,500 passengers this season. The Beach Shuttle increased its ridership by 100 percent over last year, County Supervisor Don Knabe said.

“The Beach Shuttle is an easy way to navigate the Westside traffic, as well as to avoid the costs of gas and parking,” said Knabe.

The Beach Shuttle also provided transportation to the Abbot Kinney Festival in Venice September 28th, for its final service of the season.

Knabe, along with Playa Vista, helped provide the Beach Shuttle to the public free of charge.
