Former longtime Venice resident Michael Savino, a hair stylist and sculptor, has died. He was 64.

Savino, who was a Venice resident and business owner for over 20 years before relocating to Baja California in 2003, died July 3rd in the company of a close friend, friends said.

Savino was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 10th, 1944.

Throughout a 40-year career as a stylist, Savino’s advocacy for the “Hairprint Method” and his cultivation of natural wave to enhance facial features defied industry standards and helped attract a grateful following, friends said.

He was known for working away from the mirror and his charm, wisdom and artistry inspired clients to see their own beauty as a “fait accompli,” friends said.

Savino was engaged in translating this school of thought into Spanish at the time of his death.

He is survived by his daughter Kieva, his Aunt Etty and many friends.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, August 23rd, at the Baja Seasons RV Resort in Baja Mexico, located at Kilometer 72 on the toll road from Tijuana.
