The Fourth Annual MixMatch Dance Festival featuring a diverse mix of dance performances with over 40 local and national choreographers, will be presented by the Hart Pulse Dance Company at the Electric Lodge in Venice Friday through Sunday, Sept. 10 through 12.
Performances are scheduled at 8 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11, and 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Ave., Venice.
The festival will showcase dancers from regions such as Southern California, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Indiana and New York.
A combination of dance styles will be performed including modern, contemporary, jazz, Middle Eastern, tap, ballet, Brazilian, mixed media, Bharata Natyam and Manipuri (Indian), as well as dances for film and live music.
The festival started in 2007 with 15 dances and has expanded to 50, according to director/producer Amanda Hart.
“Each year that goes by, the work submitted for consideration becomes richer and more diverse. And with such great audience reviews, how can we not accommodate such wonderful demands for dance?” Hart says. “You have to give the community what they want and if dance is what they’re loving, that’s something to celebrate.”
Tickets are $14. Information, or to purchase tickets, www.hartpulsedance.com/.
