In the fourth meeting between two crosstown high schools, the Santa Monica High Vikings once again dominated the St. Monica High Mariners in a 52-0 blowout Friday, September 29th.

St. Monica (0-4) won the first meeting but Santa Monica (3-1) has captured the last three victories.

The Vikings took command of this year’s game early and cruised into halftime with a 42-0 lead.

Santa Monica junior quarterback Ryan Katz led the offense by completing 12 of 15 passes for 208 yards.

Sophomore running back Christian Ross rushed for 93 yards on 13 carries and senior running back Louis Adeyemi added 83 yards rushing on six carries for the Vikings.

St. Monica will next play host Palisades High School in a non-league game at 7 p.m. Friday, October 6th.

The Vikings will face Los Alamitos High School in a visiting non-league game at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 5th.

The Westchester High School Comets were stopped short in their comeback effort in the second half and lost 32-20 to visiting Cathedral High School Friday, September 29th.

After trailing 12-0 at halftime, the Comets (1-3) scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to cut the Cathedral lead to 19-14. The touchdowns came on an 80-yard pass by senior quarterback Isiah Barton to senior Damian Polk and a 42-yard fumble return by junior Robyn Lawson.

Westchester added another touchdown in the fourth quarter on a three-yard run by senior running back Darren Starks, but Cathedral (3-1) picked up two more touchdowns to hold on for victory.

Barton finished ten-of-20 for 153 yards passing and Polk caught two passes for 87 yards in the game.

Westchester will next face host Gardena High School in a non-league game at 7 p.m. Friday, October 6th.
