The year’s third Muscle Beach Championship bodybuilding, figure and bikini contest will be held Labor Day Monday, September 7th at the Venice Beach Recreation Center, 1800 Ocean Front Walk, Venice.

Male and female bodybuilders from around the U.S. and other nations will compete in the holiday event. Competitions were previously held Memorial Day and July Fourth weekends.

Anyone interested in joining the participants can enter. The registration fee is $80 per competitor. Spectators are welcome and will be admitted at no charge.

Event day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., with prejudging starting at 10 a.m. A welcoming ceremony is scheduled at 1 p.m., followed by the finals in each division. At the conclusion of the competition, live music will be featured into the evening.

Reg Lewis, who was named Mr. Universe 1957, Mr. America 1963, and Mr. America 1983 (over 40), will be inducted into the Muscle Beach Venice Hall of Fame and added to the Walk of Fame surrounding the weightlifting pen. The 73-year-old Lewis, who won his first bodybuilding competition at age 17, is expected to attend the event.
