A Labor Day tradition, the Muscle Beach Championship bodybuilding, figure, and bikini contest will be held Monday, Sept. 5, at the Venice Beach Recreation Center, 1800 Ocean Front Walk.

Male and female bodybuilders from the U.S. and other nations will compete in the annual event. Muscle Beach bodybuilding and figure events are also held during Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends.

The competition is open to all amateur competitors, with an $80 entrance fee per participant. Spectators are welcome and will be admitted at no charge. Several hundred permanent bleacher seats are available.

Event day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., with prejudging starting at 10 a.m.

As part of the festivities, fitness industry pioneer Bob Delmonteque will be inducted into the Muscle Beach Hall of Fame.

There will be a parade of athletes and a ceremony at 1 p.m., followed by the finals in each division. At the conclusion of the competition, live music will be performed by “Flight 2Da Light.”
