The Hart Pulse Dance Company will present its first full-length production of 2011, Muse, Friday through Sunday, May 6 through 8 at the Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica.

Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. May 6 and 7, and 2 p.m. May 8 at the playhouse, 1130 Lincoln Blvd., Santa Monica.

“I always find dance and my choreography to be an outlet, a therapy session for whatever is going on in my life, good or bad,” says director/choreographer Amanda Hart. “I wanted to get down and really explore what inspires myself and others and then find a way to project those results through dance.”

Hart says she believes that Muse audience members will be able to find something they can relate to on a personal level.

“HPDC always strives to hit everyone in the house where it counts,” she said. “Whether it’s the soul, the heart or the head, we want everyone to leave feeling rejuvenated and loving dance because they felt or thought something new watching us perform.”

Hart Pulse Dance Company is also gearing up for its Fifth Annual MixMatch Dance Festival, which brings various forms of dance from choreographers from across the country into one weekend of dance. This year, the festival expands to two weekends with six shows.

Tickets to Muse are $15 online at, or $17 at the door. To reserve tickets, (661) 755-2182.
