The Musica Angelica Baroque orchestra will kick off the 2011-12 season with a performance of Romantic Duo, an evening of Franz Schubert and Ludwig von Beethoven sonatas at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1220 Second St., Santa Monica.
The Los Angeles-based orchestra is conducted by Martin Haselbock, who will be presented with the Grand Prix International du Disque Award from the Hungarian Minister of Culture next month. He will receive the award during a ceremony in Budapest, Hungary for his recording of “The Sound of Weimar:” Franz Liszt; The Complete Works for Orchestra Vol. 1, using original instruments of the 19th century.
Tickets for the Sept. 25 performance in Santa Monica are $49 per person, with a 10 percent discount offered to seniors. Admission is $15 for students with valid identification.
