The Electric Lodge in Venice will present Jane Press’ play My Mother’s Keeper beginning Friday, May 10 through June 16.
Performances are scheduled at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Ave., Venice. A benefit performance will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, with part of the proceeds benefiting 50/50 Leadership where the funds will be earmarked for a documentary on the book “Beauty Bites Beast” by Ellen Snortland.
My Mother’s Keeper moves fluidly back and forth between 1914 and the present, taking place within the memories of four generations of women in a show-business family.
Focusing on the mother-daughter dynamic, My Mother’s Keeper examines motherhood, with all its inherent – and inherited – blessings and curses, the writer says.
Press is an actress with 50 years experience on stage. She currently teaches acting to children ages 5-12 at the Community Partnership for Youth.
The play is directed by Robin McKee. The cast includes Barbara Goodson, Francesca Farina, Susan Giosa, Laura Julian, Mari Marks, Sharon Rosner and Cambell Walker.
Tickets are $28 and can be purchased at (310) 306-1854.
