The Venice Neighborhood Council Election Committee has announced the start of the election period leading up to this year’s Board of Officers election scheduled Sunday, September 17th.

There are 11 open seats on the Neighborhood Council Board of Officers in the September election.

The open seats are for the positions of president, vice president community outreach officer, land use and planning committee chair and seven community officers.

The seven community officers are elected at-large. Each voter will be able to cast one vote from a ballot listing all candidates for community officer.

Community officers must serve on at least one standing committee and may serve on and/or chair other committees.

Candidates interested in running for a seat must register and attend one of the two Candidate Information Sessions, scheduled at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26th, and Thursday, August 17th, at Beyond Baroque, 681 Venice Blvd., Venice.

Neighborhood Council members work to implement community outreach and improvement projects and act as the official voice of the Venice community on matters of land use, parking and other issues of community concern.
