The Del Rey Neighborhood Council has launched its redesigned and newly updated Web site,

The new site includes video, photographs, calendar of neighborhood council meetings and community events, and links to vital city services.

The site was launched six months after the swearing in of new board members in July.

Board members note that through the first half of this fiscal year the neighborhood council has promoted, sponsored, and supported numerous community events and is on pace to become the first Del Rey board to put all of its allocated taxpayer money back into the community.

“The Del Rey community deserves a neighborhood council that returns all of its allocated money back to the people in the form of high-quality programming and services,” neighborhood council President Eric DeSobe said. “It’s been an honor to work with current board members who also feel strongly about that priority as well.”

Among the events that the council has supported was the annual Del Rey Day at Glen Alla Park, where hundreds of community members participated in the DRNC-sponsored CARE 5K race, which benefited Del Rey’s four elementary schools.

In September, the DRNC also sponsored the first Del Rey Soccer Cup to celebrate physical fitness, youth sports, and the newly installed athletic field lights at Mar Vista Gardens. The event drew over 100 community members, city dignitaries, and Del Rey elementary students, who received free school supplies.

The neighborhood council will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 at the Courtyard by Marriott, 13480 Maxella Ave, Del Rey. All meetings are open to the public.
