The Venice Neighborhood Council will hold a “Be Ready Expo” Sunday, May 31st, when emergency preparedness experts, local government representatives and vendors will provide information to help community members prepare for emergencies.
The event is scheduled at 1 p.m. at the Westside Leadership Magnet School, 104 Anchorage St., near Pacific Avenue and Washington Boulevard, on the Marina Peninsula.
The town hall, planned by the neighborhood council’s Emergency Preparedness Task Force, will focus on the idea that community members and their families should plan to be self sufficient in emergencies.
At the expo, emergency preparedness experts will discuss how to formulate a plan, vendors will explain tools for emergencies, and first responders will provide training, including classes for children.
The free event will also include family activities, music, a raffle and supervised playground. Parking is free at the school.
“We’re very pleased with how the event has come together around the theme of ‘Venice Be Ready,’” said Nic Hippsley Coxe, co-chair of the Emergency Preparedness Task Force. “Being good at emergency preparedness requires planning, training, good tools and execution.”
