The Venice Neighborhood Council is presenting a town hall meeting Thursday, July 27th, on two issues of community concern — enforcement of the regulations on fences and hedges and community safety.

The town hall meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. in the Westminster Elementary School Auditorium, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice.

There will be two panel discussions. The first panel will discuss the regulations and issues regarding fences and hedges enclosing residential and commercial property and answer questions.

Panelists include David Lara of the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, Michael King, architect and member of the Venice Neighborhood Council, and representatives from the Los Angeles City Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

The second panel will consider community concerns regarding the safety of life and property. Topics to be addressed at this panel will include problems surrounding gang activities, drugs, the homeless, and increased graffiti.

This panel is comprised of Ansar Stan Muhammad, Venice Neighborhood Council board member; Chris Williams, member of the community police advisory board; a representative from LAPD; and possibly a representative from Graffiti Solutions.
