The city of Santa Monica has created a website to keep residents and businesses informed of the wide range of projects planned over the next several years.
The new site, www.smconstructs.org, was recently launched to provide the public as much information as possible about slated capital improvement projects and to notify community members of possible construction impacts.
A number of improvement projects are being planned throughout Santa Monica, including the Metro Exposition light rail line, two new parks in Santa Monica’s civic center, key infrastructure improvements, enhanced civic and cultural facilities, amenities for pedestrians and bicyclists, and parking enhancements.
Using the online resource, visitors can read about the variety of city projects, see renderings of the projects and photos of construction in progress, and view construction dates and upcoming meetings. The site’s new interactive map will also provide basic locations for private development projects as well.
The site includes links to more information about traffic and parking, and a way to get additional project information or give feedback through Santa Monica’s Government Outreach GO System.
The communications effort and community outreach campaign known as Be Excited! Be Prepared: Santa Monica Constructs its Future also includes social media, personal contact, and SM Alerts, a new system launched by the city that allows people to sign up for urgent notifications (in the event of an emergency), and regular updates on topics of interest.
This interdepartmental effort is intended to inform the community about the progress of the many city projects that are being built in the city.
