Food truck fans have been given another place to satisfy their hunger one day a week at a new lot in Santa Monica.

The private lot, which launched Aug. 8, will be open every Wednesday at 1401 Santa Monica Blvd., near 14th Street, offering up to six food trucks at lunch and six trucks at dinner. Lunch hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and trucks will be operating for dinner from 4 to 9 p.m.

Known as the “Hump Day Lot,” the food truck area will have on site parkaing for both bicycles and cars as well as security.

A variety of gourmet food trucks from the Los Angeles area are expected to stop by each week. Another Santa Monica food truck lot has been popular on Tuesday evenings at Main Street and Ocean Park Boulevard.

In addition, inside seating with a mix of music is being provided by the Central club located across the street from the new food truck location, from noon until 9 p.m. with the purchase of a beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) once inside.

Brian Spire, director of the Hump Day Lot, said the lot has acquired permits from the city of Santa Monica for the weekly program.

“I hope it will be a longtime venue for the best food trucks of the city, bringing the local community a continuum of great eats from diverse ethnicities and a fun place for all to hang out,” he said.
