Nine gymnasts from the boys team at Broadway Gymnastics in Del Rey qualified and competed at the Region 1 Championships in Reno, Nevada April 3rd to 6th.

The region includes California, Arizona, Hawaii and Nevada.

Broadway gymnasts Douglas Rosman and Douglass Johnson qualified to USA Gymnastics National Championships as Level 10 athletes.

This will be Rosman’s third and Johnson’s fifth time competing at this annual national championship competition. Nationals will be held in Battle Creek, Michigan May 8th to 11th.

Johnson also qualified for the 2008 Region 1 Select Team, which is an elite group comprised of the top 30 gymnasts throughout the region. USA Gymnastics will offer these athletes high level training and competition experience.

Richard Chin of Santa Monica, Broadway’s Level 8 Gymnast, qualified to the event finals with a score of 11.65 on high bar.

Daniel Yoon, Broadway’s Level 5 Gymnast and All-Star team member, won medals on all six events — high bar, parallel bars, still rings, floor, vault, and pommel horse — and brought home the silver medal in the All-Around Championship.

Additional awards for Broadway were achieved by Aron Kobayashi-Ritch, Luke Goldstein, Thomas Chin, Nathan Szeto and Bryan de los Santos.

Michael and Mary Cates, owners of Broadway Gymnastics, accompanied the team to Reno and were elated with the boys’ successes.

“Broadway is always proud of its quality gymnasts,” said Michael Cates.
