Work has begun on extended construction and repairs of the north airfield complex at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and residents may notice a change in aircraft flight activity, primarily related to nighttime arrivals coming in over the communities to the east of the airport, airport officials say.

There are deviations from the Preferential Runway Procedures as well as from the Over Ocean Procedures for approximately 60 days. The deviations began September 15th.

This project requires the night-time closure of Runway 06R/24L to complete work inside the Runway Safety Area.

Nighttime arrivals may come in over the communities east of the airport throughout this 60-day construction period.

Additionally, there may be some increased use of Runway 24R for departures during this construction, but this is expected to be limited.
